  • HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS comprise our staff. All Lead Teachers and Assistants have background in Early Childhood Education (our Director and Assistant Director do, too!) Continuous training through participation in annual workshops and conferences keep our teachers up-to-date, creative and well-informed.
  • LIMITED CLASS SIZE FOR PROPER STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO provides time for daily individual nurture and building of skills. Each class grouping has two or more teachers.

  • CHILD-CENTERED CLASSROOMS AND PLAYGROUNDS are well-equipped, clean, bright, and inviting!

  • OUR MEDIA CENTER offers an extensive collection of children’s books; also materials to help parents develop a better understanding of young children.

  • SPECIAL RESOURCE VISITORS are scheduled every month and include The Creature Teacher, Music Lady, and many community helpers!

  • HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES are designed for each age level. Learning Center Activities are rich in: creative arts (such as painting, drawing, cutting & gluing), music & rhythms; storytelling; creative drama with dress-ups; language arts; block building; carpentry; water and sand play; sensory tubs; math discovery manipulatives; cooking; science & wonder !

  • INTERGENERATIONAL INVOLVEMENT is welcome and encouraged in our classrooms. We invite parents & grandparents to take an active role in the life of the Through-The-Week School by participating in class activities such as helping with creative projects, reading to children, chaperoning fieldtrips (K5), bringing special snacks, sharing talents & hobbies, assisting with class cooking or nature walks.

  • PARENT WORKSHOPS (a new series each year) give support to families & help build positive parenting skills.

  • OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES help children to think about others “beyond their backyard” and build attitudes of care and compassion. Our total school participates! Examples of projects include: bringing canned goods to feed the needy at Thanksgiving; Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes; UNICEF to provide milk & medicine to children overseas; cheer cards created for our church members; flood buckets; drawings & letters to send to our military.


  • FAMILY LIFE EVENTS offer fun times & chance for families to get to know one another. Favorite Family Events held during the school year include Fall Festival, Book & Toy Fair, Lunch with Mr & Mrs Santa, Easter Egg Hunt, Reading Club Celebration, and Springfest Carnival & Auction!

  • FOURS & FIVES KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM
Meets and exceeds guidelines for required curriculum as set by the Department of Public Instruction of the State of North Carolina. Our Kindergarten program includes “Specials”: Chapel Times, Media Center Storytimes, Computers & Technology, Creature Teacher (animal science), Music Teacher, and Spanish Teacher. Kindergarten children enjoy lunch at school – daily for K5’s; “Extended Day Lunch” one day/week for K4’s.
